Home of the BERLIN-MARATHON
To mark the 50th anniversary of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, a truly special project came to life at the iconic Brandenburger Tor:
“Move – Home of the BERLIN-MARATHON.”
Within just three months, our team at kpm3 Berlin, in collaboration with the NIKRO Group and on behalf of die wellenmaschine GmbH and SCC EVENTS GmbH, realized a temporary pavilion – designed by StudioBonn.
On the ground floor, visitors were welcomed with a vibrant mix of sports and cultural programming, engaging talks, and premium culinary offerings. The upper floor was dedicated to the history of the marathon, brought to life through an exhibition showcasing five decades of BERLIN-MARATHON stories.
Like a marathon itself, the project combined endurance with speed. Built in just two weeks and dismantled in under one, Moveset a new benchmark for temporary architecture. This was made possible through a modular system using containers and NIKRO Group’s NE200/NE300 steel construction system – paired with a high level of prefabrication.
From the outset, Move was designed with sustainability in mind, embracing the principle of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”:
- Use of full-format panels for maximum efficiency
- Rental materials such as glass, steel, raised floors, and containers
- Repurposing of timber and flooring for future projects
Move was open from September 17 to 30, 2024, and became a dynamic meeting place for sports enthusiasts, culture lovers, and architecture fans alike – a temporary space that left a lasting impression.
